Dusk or Dawn?
Mornings are a reminder that whatever nightmare you have gone through, Life will always be beautiful.
Dusk or Dawn?
I bowed my head,
I closed my eyes,
I calmed myself,
I prayed intently,
I burst it all out and cried.
I prayed for justice
Justice so elusive; justice delayed is justice denied,
Denied of the truth, an evidence of betrayal
Betrayal in exchange of loyalty
Loyalty that demands an ultimate sacrifice: LIFE
When the lights are gone, I stare at darkness;
When the lights are gone, it gives me but a plain dark nothing;
When the lights are gone, it satisfies my feeling;
When the lights are gone, it relaxes my mind for it eases my eyes from seeing.
Another way of bringing out your brain juices in writing is by making a creative list. Here’s how I did mine!
Things that catches my attention when I’m home
10. Chair- it makes me rest my tired feet.
9.Bed- Of course, I love to sleep.
8. Television- It is nice to be entertained and be updated (sometimes!)
7. Radio- Life without music is boring. (I guess!)
6. Gadgets -(why can’t I live without them?)
5.Floor- I don’t want a messy floor. No toys scattered please!
4. Laundry- Just the thought of it makes me sick.
3. My kitchen- it makes me creative especially when I’m hungry.
2. Coffee- it makes me on the go! My energizer in the morning.
1. Food- is it not obvious?
The Boy and The Nails
Creating a writing prompt helps the writer make up his/her mind about what he/she wants to focus about. It serves as a guide in the process of writing. I call mine “Writing with your letter name.” This is how to do it.
Write a 10 line sentences (poem) with the first word always starting with the first letter of your name. The rule is, it can’t be about you. So since my first name starts with a J, I’ll start all my sentences with words starting in that letter.
Gossip
Jobless as you are but you’re busy as a bee
Juiceless information you love to alter
Jumbled words you use to make a story of her
Jealous are you for she has a happy family
Jesting is how you spread rumor of what you said an extramarital affair.

Haiku is another way of writing about what we see around us. The following shows samples of haikus written about nature or and life. Thanks to Sir Azlison Bawang for the pictures as an inspiration.
Dew drop! A dew drop
A beautiful morning mist
Reflection of Life
Crawling in the dust
Fighting for an existence
A morning glory!
A brown in the green
Standing out amongst the rest
Enjoys life, the best!
Dusty and all brown
Chaotic, still alive
Thirsty for Order!
Moss covered cabin,
A sign of resignation.
That tranquil smile!
Life’s Road
“Brake! Step on the brake!” he shouted hysterically while trying to manage my steering wheel when I stepped on the accelerator. It took at least 2 seconds before I frantically stepped on the brake putting the car on halt before it smashed the concrete barrier. Whew! It was a great relief when the car stopped just an inch away from being scratched, but I had to deal with the scolding look of my driving instructor.
My life is like the car I’m learning to drive. There are obstacles on the roads that I must learn to overcome before reaching my destination. From the driving lessons I’ve had, I realized the many roads I have passed in my life.
As I continued my driving session, I had to maneuver the car in reverse mode first before I could drive it again forward without hitting anything. This time I had to move slowly but surely especially that I am approaching an unpaved road.
Just like what my parents usually do, my instructor reminded me that the car may have trouble passing if I step on the accelerator too hard. In life, I had learned to compromise.
As I was approaching the wide and cemented road, I relaxed a bit but remain alert. There are humps along the way that I have to slow down; ups that I have to step on the accelerator, and downs when I have to manage the brake.
When I am navigating a paved road, I compare it to a stage in my life when everything seems to fall in place. I had a happy family with a loving husband and an energetic son. Disagreements are inevitable, maybe because most of the time we were apart for he is in service. Nonetheless, I was contented being a housewife running my smalltime homebased business; I could not ask for more.
I looked at the road sign saying I’m coming to a blind curve, so I had to drive with caution. I remembered what my husband told me. “Never try to overtake or speed away when you are in a blind curve because you cannot see if another car from the opposite direction is coming your way.” Car accidents normally happen due to human error, either error one does not know what he is doing, or purely because of proper mindset.
And again, I was reminded that last year, I had the most tragic accident in a blind curve of life. It was New Year’s Day when my husband admitted, sometimes he had to lie to me about his job. He pacified my thought about him being in some dangerous mission. I managed to accept the fact that for my husband, I and my son are his third priority, for he has God as first and his country, second. Before my husband’s holiday break ended, we had been planning our future. We talked about where to send our son when he is ready to go to school and the design of our would-be house.
But on life’s biggest mishap, he became a victim of betrayal by his superiors on that fateful day on January 25, 2015. He came home with a flag, the reward of serving his country.
My two hour session was about to end so I parked the car alongside as I automatically glanced on the side mirrors to see if I’m parking it correctly. The only difference with driving and life itself is, when you drive, you see road signs and you are lucky if you know how to interpret them. But in life, you have no control on what life brings you. I know there are more roads I will have to pass through and I have to continue driving my life going to where the Lord has prepared for me. I have realized that I still manage the steering wheel. I have the power to run smoothly, cautiously and be alert no matter what kind of road is waiting ahead of me. We do not know what lies ahead of us, but as they say, life must go on.
Aim for the sky if you want
High enough to achieve
And make sure you can
Hit your dreams and aspirations; and when
The wait is over
Mark that day!
